About the Gardens

R. Seawright specializes in northern field-grown daylilies and potted hostas. We are located in Carlisle, MA, next to Concord, MA - both northwest of Boston. We are easily accessible from major highways (directions are on the inside of the back cover) and are located on Route 225 just outside of Carlisle center.

We have over 600 varieties of fine daylilies ranging in colors from pinks to purples, near whites to reds, and yellows to brilliant gold and peach. They are large, healthy plants that are grown primarily in fields. We dig them fresh for you as you order them or come to the nursery and select them. We think you will be pleased with the quality of our plants.

We hope you will visit us this summer. Peak bloom time for daylilies during a normal season is around July 20. However, if you can visit us multiple times, try to come around July 15, July 25 and August 5. You will see something different each time. You may walk through the fields as well as amongst the many mature daylily displays so you can see what they will look like when fully grown.

We have over 150 varieties of hostas, which are shade loving plants grown primarily for their foliage. Hostas are in their prime leaf color in June with blossoms starting in July and August. Our hosta displays are reaching a level of maturity that is truly exciting; the setting is one in which you can just stroll and enjoy.

For those who can come to the nursery, we continue to dig daylily plants for you on the spot. In fact we will let you select the plants we dig from the field. For those who order by mail, we select the best plants for you as if we were digging for you in person. All hostas are in pots as are many varieties of daylilies. If you want to call or fax ahead an order to pick up at the nursery, you are welcome to do so; please give us 24 hours notice.
