Dear Friends and Fellow Gardeners -

Welcome to another gardening season and our 35th year. We would like to welcome as many of you as possible to our selling garden in Carlisle - the daylilies are spectacular and the hostas put on quite a show as well. Seeing the plants and viewing the bloom is a special time for our visitors and there is nothing like seeing them in person.For those of you who live just too far away to visit, we have pictures of both daylilies and hostas on our website. For you who must rely on ordering plants to be shipped, we choose plants for you that are just as big and nice as if you were visiting in person. We are eagerly looking forward to seeing you and serving your gardening needs in the days ahead.

For those who can come to the nursery, we continue to dig daylily plants for you on the spot. In fact we will let you select the plants we dig from the field. For those who order by mail, we select the best plants for you as if we were digging for you in person. All hostas are in pots as are a few varieties of daylilies. If you want to call ahead or fax ahead an order to pick up at the nursery, you are welcome to do so; please give us 24 hours notice.

Each year we search for new and unusual daylily cultivars to add to our collection. On this website are many new varieties of daylilies which we are offering for the first time. We are very excited about these new ones. Among these are ALL AMERICAN CHIEF, BROADWAY IMAGE, CHERRY ICE CREAM, CHROME PINK, CORRYTON PINK, DREAMWORLD, FORSYTH EVENING GLOW, HOLIDAY JOY, KHORASSAN, LEGACY REALIZED, MAGIC AMETHYST, MAJESTIC PINK, PASSION FOR RED, PATRICIAN SPLENDOR, SALIERE, SUPER HONOR, TODD ABBOTT, and VESUVIAN.

New doubles this year are BIG KISS and DOUBLE BOURBON, . We also have the wonderful doubles AUBREY JOHNSON, CARROT CREST, CONDILLA, DOUBLE BOLD ONE, MOSES' FIRE, PEACH MAGNOLIA, SILOAM COOPER'S CHANTILLY, SILOAM DOUBLE CLASSIC, SILOAM RAMONA JANUARY and VARIETY IS THE SPICE.

New near whites are ALPINE SNOW, FIRST NOEL, and WHITE DISH. We are pleased to be offering once again the following near white daylilies: PRAY FOR PEACE, WHITE HOT, WHITE TEMPTATION, LIME FROST, GLORIA BLANCA, ROYAL FROSTING, CARVED MARBLE, SERENE MADONNA, MINT ICE and ICE CARNIVAL.

This year we again have EARLYBIRD CARDINAL™, the new early red repeat bloomer. We also have the following newer repeat blooming daylilies for our climate - APRICOT SPARKLES, DYNAMITE RETURNS, EARLY AND OFTEN, GOING BANANAS, MEAN MISTER MUSTARD, RED HOT RETURNS, ROMANTIC RETURNS, and WHEN MY SWEETHEART RETURNS. We also have HAPPY RETURNS, STELLA DE ORO and STELLA SUPREME.

We continue to be impressed with the "CANDY series" from Pat Stamile, which have wonderful colors and high bud counts on great branching. All are outstanding plants.

Do you grow the daylily SANDRA ELIZABETH? If not, you should try it. SANDRA ELIZABETH is considered by many daylily connoisseurs to be the best very late blooming tetraploid daylily on the market today. SANDRA ELIZABETH begins blooming around the third week in August here, a full month after peak bloom. The bud count, branching, and plant habit are nothing short of outstanding. A mature established clump of SANDRA ELIZABETH is just about as close to a daylily shrub as we have seen. We realize that most of our garden visitors come during daylily peak bloom from mid July to early August. During that time period, SANDRA ELIZABETH has not even thought about blooming. We hope many of you will return in late August or on weekends in early September to see SANDRA ELIZABETH in all her glory. Better yet, try it in your own garden.

Last year we introduced for the first time CARMINE ELIZABETH, a very late dark red, yet bright daylily that really stands out. Both CARMINE ELIZABETH and SCARLET ELIZABETH are full-blooded progeny of SANDRA ELIZABETH and are from the Red-SE breeding line. These are daylilies that bloom late and that customers have been asking for and patiently awaiting. Come see!

This year we have cut prices on a large number of both daylilies and hostas. This should make them more attractive than ever.

In addition, we again have quantity discounts on specific varieties of daylilies when purchased in quantities of 3 or more per variety, giving 20% savings on these varieties - they are marked with after the price.

We have added new varieties of hosta this year which we think you will like. We also have many of the more recent introductions plus the tried and true. This year we have two hosta collections available for the first time - a small leaf collection and a large leaf collection. See page 32 for details.

Our website has color photographs of both our daylilies and hostas and it now gives you the ability to search on various plant attributes, such as color. These pictures are also available at the nursery. Plan to visit us this summer and see our many plants in bloom. They are a spectacular sight to see. Note our new hours .
